Sociological Study of Credit Score Acceptance
A Survey on Attitudes towards Data-Driven Society (1st)
The study group's primary focus was on the intention of individuals to accept the use of their personal data, but survey items for measuring this intention has not yet been established. Therefore, this survey aimed to investigate ways to measure acceptance intentions and related attitudes, such as concerns regarding privacy and perceptions of the usefulness of predictive algorithms. Additionally, the survey sought to identify factors that account for acceptance intentions.
Respondents were quota-sampled based on sex, age (5-year age groups), and residence (47 prefectures divided into 8 blocks) to reflect the demographic composition according to the most recent estimates at the time of the survey.
Period: December 18-22, 2020.
Subjects: Participants (5,971 valid responses) aged 20-69, registered with Internet research firm A during the time of the survey.
A Survey on Attitudes towards Data-Driven Society (2nd)
A new survey was conducted to validate the questions used in the previous survey, the Survey on Attitudes Toward a Data-Driven Society (1), and to investigate additional factors related to attitudes about personal data. These factors include attitudes about human adaptability and perceived risks associated with predictive technology that utilizes personal data.
Demographic Characteristics of Survey Respondents: Stratified Random Sampling by Gender, Age (in 5-year intervals), and Residence (8 blocks based on 47 prefectures) to Approximate Latest Population Estimates at the Time of Survey.
Period: March 23-25, 2022.
Participants: 2,219 monitors aged 20-69 who were registered with Internet survey company B at the time of the survey.
A Survey on Attitudes towards Data-Driven Society (3rd)
Based on the idea that people's attitudes towards the use of personal data for predictions are influenced by multiple factors, including not only "what areas the predictions are applied to," which has been the main focus of previous studies, but also "what range of data is used," "who makes the predictions," and "how the predictions are used in decision-making," we have designed a vignette study for our third survey..
Respondents were quota-sampled based on sex, age (5-year age groups), and residence (47 prefectures divided into 8 blocks) to reflect the demographic composition according to the most recent estimates at the time of the survey.
Period: November 21 to December 2, 2022.
Subjects: Participants aged 20-69 (3,508 valid responses), registered with Internet research firm C during the time of the survey.
